As the 2024 golf season approaches its latter half, it's an opportune moment to explore the intricacies of the Asian Tour's esteemed International Series Order of Merit. The tour recently concluded its third of eight scheduled events in Morocco, each boasting a lucrative prize fund of no less than $2 million.
Leading the International Series standings is American golfer John Catlin, closely followed by New Zealand's Ben Campbell. Notably, both Catlin and Campbell are slated to participate in the forthcoming 2023 LIV Golf season. Catlin, 33, boasts a remarkable professional career with 13 victories, including his win at the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Galgorm Castle. He has affirmed his dedication to the International Series, calling it his top priority, and expressing enthusiasm for the high-caliber competitions and substantial rewards offered.
In a recent collaboration, the Asian Tour and LIV Golf revealed that the winner of the Asian Tour's International Series Order of Merit would secure a place in the subsequent LIV Golf season. This honor was awarded to American golfer Andy Ogletree, who also earned his spot through the LIV Golf Promotion tournament at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in 2023. The International Series has seen increasing participation from LIV Golf League members, who compete for Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, unavailable in LIV Golf events.
This year, notable LIV Golf players such as Louis Oosthuizen, Joaquim Niemann, and Patrick Reed have joined the International Series. It is anticipated that more players will engage with the series in 2024. Ogletree, celebrated for his amateur triumphs and his victory at the 2019 US Amateur, secured his first professional win at the International Series Egypt in 2022, paving his way to the 2024 LIV Golf season with subsequent wins in Qatar and England.
The forthcoming International Series events are scheduled as follows:
