The countdown to the 2024 Olympics Men’s Golf Competition is underway, with the event set to run from August 1st to 4th at Le Golf National in Paris.

Adrian Meronk, a 31-year-old golfer residing in Dubai, will be Poland's sole representative in golf, regardless of gender. This marks Meronk's second Olympic appearance, having previously competed in the Tokyo 2020 Games where he tied for 51st place with a score of 282, finishing at two under par after rounds of 72, 71, 69, and 70. He is one of six LIV Golfers scheduled to play in the French Olympics and currently ranks 75th in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

Meronk shared with Khaleej Times: “From a young age, I was always captivated by the Olympics, particularly with my father’s encouragement – he was a professional volleyball player. I have always felt honored to represent Poland on the international stage.” As an amateur, Meronk represented Poland three times in the Eisenhower Trophy, achieving his best result in 2016 as eighth in the team event and third individually.

Reflecting on his Tokyo Olympics experience, Meronk noted, “The last Olympics was amid Covid restrictions, limiting many activities. This time, I will reside in the Athletes Village and am eager to spectate other Olympic sports as my schedule allows.” He expressed his intention to support fellow Polish athletes, hoping to catch events like Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Track and Field, Wrestling, Basketball, Tennis, and Swimming. Meronk also mentioned reconnecting with Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz, currently ranked seventh in the ATP Tennis Rankings, during Hurkacz’s visit to Dubai earlier this year.

Meronk described his excitement: “Being part of the Olympics is a dream come true, and I hope my friends and fellow Polish athletes can support me on the golf course.” Discussing the golf course, he added, “I appreciate the course’s challenge, which demands a strong long game and precision from the tee – accuracy will be crucial. A solid short game will also be essential.” Meronk has previously competed in the French Open at Le Golf National in 2022, finishing tied 11th with rounds of 72, 67, 70, and 69, totaling 278.

“I am genuinely looking forward to the competition and hope to deliver my best performance,” Meronk concluded.
