Automakers have disclosed their sales figures for the third quarter of 2024. Leading the pack are the usual suspects: the Ford F-150, the Toyota Camry, the Chevrolet Silverado, and others. However, at the other end of the scale, there are numerous vehicles that are struggling to find buyers. Excluding recently discontinued models or those that have just hit the market, there are several cars and SUVs that consumers are simply not interested in. This includes offerings from brands that are otherwise highly successful, such as Hyundai, Lexus, Toyota, and more.
At the very bottom of the list is the Hyundai Nexo. Although this is a niche hydrogen SUV available only in California, Hyundai has managed to sell just 89 units of the SUV this year. The Toyota Mirai, another hydrogen vehicle, follows closely with 346 units sold in 2024. Fiat is also having a hard time with the new 500 city car, having sold only 439 units so far this year.
The Genesis G90 barely surpasses the 1,000-unit mark, with 1,017 sedans sold this year despite a recent redesign. The Audi A7 and A8, two other luxury sedans, slightly outperform the Genesis with 1,040 and 1,232 units sold respectively. Lexus, despite its record-breaking year, has some underperformers. The automaker has sold only 1,294 units of the LC sports car, 1,370 units of the RC coupe, and just 1,706 units of the LS luxury sedan. Rumors suggest that these three models might be discontinued soon.
BMW also features in the bottom 15 with the slow-selling Z4 and XM, Alfa Romeo is struggling with the Giulia sedan, and Subaru is having trouble moving the BRZ sports car. There are also a few other cars on this list that might surprise you.
