2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for Metroid Prime fans. The highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to launch on Nintendo Switch, and now enthusiasts have another reason to celebrate with the announcement of a new, official art book from premium game-guide publisher Piggyback. Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective is a 212-page hardcover edition scheduled for release in Summer 2025.

Piggyback's official announcement reveals that the publisher collaborated closely with Nintendo and Retro Studios to produce Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective. The book will showcase 'concept drawings, sketches, and assorted illustrations' from the original Metroid Prime, Prime 2: Echoes, Prime 3: Corruption, and the recent Metroid Prime Remastered on Switch. Accompanying the art are 'exclusive commentary from Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe and the esteemed Retro Studios.' Tanabe has also contributed a foreword, and each section includes intros written by Retro Studios staff. The hardcover book is printed on premium, sheet-fed art paper with stitch binding and features etched metallic foil cover art depicting Samus Aran's iconic Varia suit.

The Official Art and Making of Metroid Prime 1-3 will be available for $50 during Summer 2025. Preorders are not yet open, but based on Piggyback's past book launches, it's expected to appear on Amazon soon. Given Piggyback's track record, Metroid fans are in for a treat. It's rare for Nintendo games to receive this level of behind-the-scenes exploration, and Piggyback has produced some of the coolest game guides in recent years, including those for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which are highly sought-after collector's items.

For those interested in Piggyback's other works, several of their books are currently discounted on Amazon, including both Zelda guides. The Breath of the Wild Expanded Guide is $22.85 (down from $45), and the Tears of the Kingdom Collector's Edition Guide is $26.85 (down from $45). Both feature unique cover art and collectible materials. These guides are part of Amazon's Buy Two Get One promotion on books. If you're looking to expand your Zelda collection, The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia is also eligible for the B2G1 deal and is available for $20.60 (down from $40). Piggyback's Cyberpunk 2077 Collector's Edition Guide is also part of the B2G1 sale, discounted to $22 (down from $40).

Additionally, several Black Friday deals on gaming books are available at Amazon. While not part of the B2G1 deal, Dark Horse's Zelda lore books are roughly 50% off, including Hyrule Historia for $23.60 (down from $40) and Creating a Champion Hero's Edition for $59.50 (down from $110). You can also find Nintendo's official The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition for $48 (down from $90). A list of more Zelda book deals is provided below.

Lastly, for those eager to relive Samus' latest adventure, Metroid Dread is available for $47 (down from $60) in Walmart's Black Friday Nintendo sale.
