Audi is not just updating the A5 and unveiling the much-anticipated A6 E-Tron; they are also introducing the third-generation Q5 SUV, designed for those who desire Audi's signature style with a bit more ground clearance. While the Q6 is electric, the Q5 operates on gasoline and comes equipped with numerous features to entertain the entire family. The Q5 has been a top seller for Audi and a significant vehicle in the US market, with over 1.6 million first-generation models and more than a million second-generation models sold. The mid-size executive SUV segment is a lucrative market for Audi, especially with the high demand from existing customers. The 2025 Q5 will be available in two variants in the United States: the base model with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 268 horsepower, and the SQ5 with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine delivering 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Both models are equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch S Tronic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive. The standard Q5 features a comfortable suspension on steel springs, while the SQ5 includes a sports suspension with Frequency Selective Damping for a more dynamic ride. Audi's new design philosophy is evident in the Q5's softer exterior, with standout lines that guide the eye and a smoother overall appearance. The Q5 will be available in eleven colors, including the striking Ultra Blue, and will come with wheels ranging from 18 to 21 inches. The front grille is described as 'sporty,' and the vehicle features LED daytime running lights and second-generation OLED units at the rear. Audi's eight adjustable dynamic light patterns are also available, allowing drivers to select their preferred lighting style via the MMI system. The Q5's interior is more angular and aggressive, reminiscent of Audi's design-focused cabins from the past. It includes USB-C ports, an inductive phone charging pad, and a variety of controls for convenience. The new Q5 is built on the Premium Platform Combustion, which allows for flexibility in design and includes shared technology with the A5. The infotainment system features a large curved OLED MMI display with an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch touch display. The configurable heads-up display and Dynamic Interaction Light enhance the driving experience. As an SUV, the Q5 offers practicality with ample room for passengers and 52.0 cubic feet of trunk space with the seats down. European pricing starts at €52,300 for the Q5 and €82,900 for the SQ5, with full US specifications, including EPA mileage figures, trim levels, and pricing, still to be determined.
