A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan's Islamabad and several areas of neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, on Wednesday morning, according to Geo News.
The earthquake tremors were felt in Mohmand, Shabqadar, Attock, Malakand, Swat, Shangla, Buner, and Abbottabad, as reported by the outlet. The epicentre was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, known for its frequent seismic activity. The Pakistan Meteorological Department's Seismological Centre reported that the earthquake occurred at 10.13am, with a depth of 220 kilometres.
Earlier in the day, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter scale shook Afghanistan, according to the National Centre of Seismology (NCS). The NCS stated that the earthquake hit at 3.36 pm (IST), at a depth of 60 kilometres. The epicentre was recorded at Latitude 36.43 N and Longitude 71.39 E.
On November 4, another earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter Scale jolted Afghanistan, the National Centre of Seismology (NCS) reported. The NCS noted that the earthquake occurred at 4.52pm (IST), with a depth of 25 km. The epicentre was recorded at Latitude 36.23 N and Longitude 71.10 E.
