The weather administration reported that the earthquake had a depth of 9 km and was located just off the northeastern shore. Subway services in Taipei were operating at reduced speeds immediately following the earthquake, according to authorities. Taiwan is situated near the intersection of two tectonic plates and is frequently affected by earthquakes. In April, Taiwan experienced its most significant earthquake in at least 25 years, which resulted in nine fatalities and over 900 injuries.
