6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits New Zealand; Tokyo Also Shaken

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand, according to the UAE's National Seismic Network of the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) on Friday.

The seismic event took place at 4.22pm UAE time, the NCM reported. Earlier on the same day, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Tokyo and its surrounding areas, as stated by the Japan Meteorological Agency. This comes just a day after the Japanese government issued an advisory concerning the potential for a major earthquake along the country's Pacific coast.
