An earthquake of preliminary magnitude 6.0 occurred near the Ogasawara Islands in the Pacific Ocean, south of Tokyo, on Tuesday. The event was reported by Kyodo News. It took place at approximately 9.39am (4.39am UAE time) at a depth of about 50 kilometres. The quake registered 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Hahajima Island, as per the Japan Meteorological Agency. Fortunately, there were no reports of a tsunami threat, injuries, or significant damage.
