Approximately 70 individuals suffered injuries when nine carriages of a passenger train derailed in Russia's Komi Republic, as reported by RT News, referencing Russian Railways. The news outlet based in Russia indicated that seven individuals are in critical condition, with no fatalities confirmed to date. Train 511 was en route from Vorkuta in the northeastern part of Komi, located above the Arctic Circle, to Novorossiysk, a Black Sea port, covering a distance of about 5,000 kilometers. The incident occurred at approximately 6:12 pm local time, close to the town of Inta, according to railway officials. Russian Railways communicated via Telegram that emergency services were promptly dispatched and efforts were underway to aid passengers. They further noted that details regarding the injured were being verified and that train traffic on that section had been halted. The train, consisting of 14 carriages with 232 passengers, was operated by Russian Railways, as per RT News. The cause of the derailment is suspected to be recent intense rainfall. A task force led by General Director Oleg Belozerov has been established by Russian Railways to investigate the incident, with two recovery trains dispatched to the site, as reported by RT News. The North-Western Transport Prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal investigation into the derailment. In response to the event, the head of the Republic of Komi, Vladimir Uyba, has reportedly traveled to the location of the incident.
