As recently as in A Quiet Place: Day One earlier this year, Paramount's film franchise has set the stage for the aliens in its universe. The invaders lack vision but possess an acute sense of hearing. Even the faintest noise can spell doom for the dwindling human population on Earth. This concept is further explored in A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, an upcoming video game. Players must not only maintain silence within the game but also ensure absolute quiet if their microphone is active. Saber Interactive and Stormind Games have unveiled a new live-action trailer showcasing The Road Ahead's mic detection feature. This setting is optional and can be disabled, but for those seeking a fully immersive experience, even the slightest ambient sound could alert the aliens to their position. This proved disastrous for the unfortunate individual in the trailer.
As one might expect, The Road Ahead emphasizes stealth and avoidance over direct confrontation with the alien invaders. The reality is that Earth now belongs to them, and humanity is a threatened species on its own planet. Once the aliens detect a target, even fleeing offers little respite as they relentlessly hunt down any remaining survivors. While the game may reference elements from the Quiet Place movies, The Road Ahead introduces a new, standalone narrative centered around Alex, a college student striving to survive alongside her boyfriend, Martin. Adding to the challenge, Alex suffers from asthma, making any difficulty in breathing a potential hazard that could draw unwanted attention.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 17.
