As of now, passengers originating from Abu Dhabi have the option to travel directly to three Indian cities — Mangaluru (IXE), Tiruchirappalli (TRZ), and Coimbatore (CJB) — as declared by the airport authority of the UAE's capital on Tuesday.
Abu Dhabi Airports revealed that these new direct routes from Zayed International Airport (AUH) will be managed by the low-cost airline, Indigo, which currently operates 13 routes connecting the emirate to various Indian cities.
Nathalie Jongma, the vice-president of aviation development, stated, "This expansion transcends merely augmenting flight routes — it's about forging accessible connections for families and friends, paving new avenues for businesses, and strengthening our fruitful collaboration with Indigo."
This announcement coincides with Abu Dhabi Airports' report of a 33.5-percent surge in passenger traffic during the initial six months of the year. Sanjeev Ramdas, the executive vice-president for airport operations and customer services at Indigo, commented: "At Zayed International Airport, we've discovered the perfect ally to extend our international presence, facilitating improved connectivity and offering our patrons a broader range of travel choices."
