Abu Dhabi's Department of Health (DoH) has granted a license to the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi (IHLAD), which will be the world's first center specializing in healthy longevity medicine. The new center will offer a comprehensive array of services designed to optimize people's health, extend their lifespans, and prevent diseases by addressing the fundamental aging process and chronic disease progression. Through a combination of preventive and therapeutic practices, the institute aims to empower community members to embrace healthier lifestyles. IHLAD will provide AI-driven personalized and collaborative treatments tailored to each patient’s biology, lifestyle, goals, and clinical needs.
"This initiative represents a major shift in our approach from reactive to proactive healthcare, emphasizing disease prevention and holistic wellness at its core. These efforts further solidify Abu Dhabi’s status as a global leader in healthcare excellence," stated Dr. Rashed Obaid Al Suwaidi, the Executive Director of the Healthcare Workforce Planning Sector at DoH.
"The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi and the Healthy Longevity Medicine Society, has introduced the world’s first evidence-based guidelines for healthy longevity medicine. This framework not only sets new clinical standards but also heralds the next era of precision healthcare—promising a future where optimal health and extended longevity become the norm," said Dr. Nicole Sirotin, CEO of the Institute for Healthier Living and HLMS Council Member.
"The increasing global burden of disease places unprecedented demands on individuals and healthcare systems. To counteract this, we must focus our collective efforts on optimizing health span and reducing the burden of chronic disease," she added.
IHLAD aligns with the UAE's vision for excellence in life sciences, healthcare, and innovation. As the world's first regulated longevity medicine facility, it will help establish new global standards in healthy longevity medicine, promising a future where optimal health and enhanced longevity become the new standard of living. Healthy longevity medical centers will be equipped to address various aspects of care, including lifestyle, medications and therapeutics, mental well-being, social and environmental factors. This includes diagnostic and interventional services designed to prevent and treat age-related conditions, enhance physical fitness, improve rehabilitation outcomes, ensuring that optimal health and enhanced longevity become the new standard of living.
