Motorists in Abu Dhabi will face penalties for failing to yield to pedestrians on roads in specific areas with a speed limit of 40 km/h. According to Abu Dhabi Police, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing roads with speed limits of 40 km/h in residential, school, and hospital zones. The authority clarified that these areas do not require crossing lines for pedestrians to cross.
Section 69 states that drivers who do not comply with this rule will be fined Dh500 and receive 6 traffic points. Motorists are strongly advised to always prioritize pedestrians and reduce their speed on these roads.
