Traffic fines in Abu Dhabi will not be reduced by 50 per cent, as clarified by the police on Wednesday. The Abu Dhabi Police have refuted rumors circulating on social media about a supposed '50 per cent traffic fine discount'.

The current discount available to motorists in the emirate is specifically for early settlement of dues. Individuals who pay within 60 days of the traffic violation date are eligible for a 35 per cent penalty reduction, according to the Abu Dhabi Police. If payment is made after 60 days but within one year, the fine is reduced by 25 per cent, they further explained.

The police also emphasized the importance of verifying the accuracy of information before sharing, urging residents to rely solely on official media sources and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated claims. Moreover, it was highlighted that disseminating false information is considered a severe offence in the UAE and can lead to a fine of up to Dh200,000 as well as imprisonment.
