Abu Dhabi police have issued a warning about new scam methods circulating online, particularly on social media platforms. The authority has used these platforms to alert residents about the changing strategies of scammers who use various schemes to deceive and attract victims. These tactics include requesting payments for fake vehicle number plates, displaying images of properties, and setting up fraudulent websites that imitate well-known restaurants and shops, offering special deals in return for a fee. Once unsuspecting victims make payments using their credit cards on these fake sites, their accounts are quickly emptied. Additionally, job seekers are cautioned about deceptive job postings on social media. Authorities warn that scammers are organizing events that appear official or genuine for fictitious companies online, masquerading as authorized recruitment entities or programs on social media. These fraudsters charge fees for these non-existent jobs, and residents are advised to be wary of such fake job ads to avoid becoming victims of scams. Residents are also urged not to disclose their confidential information, such as bank account details, online banking passwords, ATM PINs, and security numbers (CCV). Authorities reminded residents that bank staff will never request this information. Abu Dhabi police have encouraged the public to promptly report any calls from unknown individuals requesting updates to their bank details. Residents can file a report at the nearest police station or contact the security service number 8002626 by texting 2828. They can also submit a report via email at aman@adpolice.gov.ae.
