The Abu Dhabi Police cautioned drivers on Saturday about the risks of leaving their car engines on while exiting their vehicles. In a public awareness video, the police highlighted a frequent habit among drivers who pause at gas stations, ATMs, or mosques. Many drivers believe that activities like praying, purchasing a snack, or withdrawing money are quick enough to allow them to leave their cars in park with the engine still running. However, the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate alerted that this behavior could result in the vehicle catching fire or being stolen.

Additionally, the authority advised against parking in prohibited areas. If stopping on the road is unavoidable, drivers must take all safety precautions. Leaving the vehicle with the engine running is strongly discouraged. Non-compliance with traffic signs and instructions will lead to a fine of Dh500, according to the police.
