Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, stalwarts of the Indian fashion scene, made a triumphant return to India Couture Week on Wednesday with a spectacular opening show. The runway at Delhi's Taj Palace Hotel was aglow with models showcasing stunning creations from the duo's younger labels, Asal and Mard. To enhance the spectacle, they incorporated elements of music and dance, with Akshay and IP curating a mesmerizing soundtrack that captivated the audience. Both artists took to the runway to perform live, drawing enthusiastic applause. There was an additional treat for the Delhi crowd as the designers enlisted Bollywood stars Taha Shah Badussha and Wamiqa Gabbi as their muses. Gabbi dazzled in an ivory trail lehenga from the 'Botanical Bloom' collection, adorned with Resham embroidery and highlighted with pearls and crystals, and later closed the show as a regal bride in a red lehenga from the 'Bridal Gota' line, intricately handcrafted with Gota, Zardozi, and crystals. This marked Gabbi's debut on the runway. Badussha appeared in an olive silk tissue-long kurta, embellished with crystal-encrusted flying birds, paired with brocade flared pants, and later sported brocade pants with a dramatic textile drape, finished with a matching Zardozi belt. Expressing his gratitude, Badussha remarked, "It's an honor to be part of this dream. Their creativity is endlessly inspiring. Mard by Abu Sandeep has transported me into a glamorous world, elevating my style with unparalleled elegance and flair." The event attracted notable figures from fashion and Bollywood, including veteran actor and politician Jaya Bachchan, who watched the show from the front row, along with influencers Kusha Kapila and Komal Pandey. On launching ICW 2024, Abu Sandeep stated, "Our goal is to celebrate the love and cultural heritage of modern couples, blending tradition with contemporary sophistication to craft the perfect ensemble for their special day."
