Nicholas Pryor, the distinguished actor renowned for his roles in ‘Risky Business’ and ‘Beverly Hills, 90210,’ has passed away. He was 89.
Pryor succumbed to cancer on Monday at his residence in Wilmington, North Carolina, as confirmed by his agent, Susan Tolar Walters, to The Post on Wednesday.
Born on January 28, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, Pryor embarked on his acting journey with an appearance in an episode of ‘Alfred Hitchcock Presents’ in 1961. His career took off with his role in the 1983 film ‘Risky Business,’ where he portrayed Tom Cruise’s father under the direction of Paul Brickman.
His filmography boasts notable roles in ‘The Falcon and the Snowman,’ ‘The Happy Hooker,’ ‘Collateral Damage,’ ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,’ and ‘Doctor Sleep.’ On television, Pryor was a familiar face as A. Milton Arnold in ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ from 1994 to 1997, where he shared the screen with Kathleen Robertson, who played his on-screen daughter.
Pryor’s television credits also include ‘Another World,’ ‘NYPD Blue,’ ‘The Bronx Zoo,’ ‘Constantine,’ ‘Nashville,’ ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ and ‘The Outsider.’ He notably portrayed former spy Victor Collins on ‘General Hospital’ and its spinoff ‘Port Charles’ in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Jon Lindstrom, who collaborated with Pryor on the soap operas, honored the late actor on Instagram, describing him as ‘an Actor’s actor, and an exceptional friend.’ Pryor’s final acting role was in the 2021 film ‘Halloween Kills.’
Pryor and his wife, Christine Belford, who played Samantha Sanders on ‘Beverly Hills, 90210,’ were married in 1993. He is survived by his wife, daughter Stacey, and grandchildren Gus and Avril.
