Last year at The Quail in Monterey, Acura unveiled its sleek ZDX electric SUV and hinted at an electric sports car with NSX influences. This year, however, Acura is spotlighting a different electric vehicle in Monterey, though many details remain shrouded in mystery. A solitary teaser image reveals the rear of a notably sleek vehicle. The taillight design stands out; it eschews the conventional triangular taillights prevalent in current Acura models for a flowing light bar that spans the width of the trunk lid. Below it, the Acura wordmark is prominently displayed, and the vehicle is adorned with a blue paint scheme.
Acura has confirmed that this will be the company's inaugural SUV manufactured in Ohio using its new dedicated EV platform, suggesting it will not utilize Ultium technology. It is unlikely to be the subcompact ADX, leading us to speculate that it could be an ultra-premium model, possibly an SUV 'coupe,' a segment currently unrepresented in Acura's lineup. Described as a 'performance' concept, it previews a 'segment-defying sport utility vehicle.' Further details are scarce, but we will uncover the full concept when Monterey Car Week commences on Monday, August 12. Acura will showcase this concept on the lawn at The Quail on Friday, August 16, and we will be there to provide more details.
