At the ongoing Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2024), AI-powered robots are creating social and emotional bonds with children by engaging them in delightful conversations. A robot named Moxy, introduced by Trends Research and Advisory Centre, captivates young visitors with its interactive features, demonstrating how technology can facilitate connections among kids.

According to the company, Moxy, which is imported from the US, is also designed to aid in early speech development for children. "Many children, especially those with autism, can benefit from Moxy's unique abilities. This friendly robot interacts with kids through conversation and answers their questions, making learning and communication enjoyable," Trends noted.

With its capability to engage in friendly voice conversations, Moxy provides a genuine and personal connection for children, particularly those who often feel isolated. This fosters an environment where kids are encouraged to express themselves, thereby helping them build confidence and enhance their communication skills. "Moxy has become a favorite among children, making socializing easier and supporting their emotional and social development," the company stated.

Another intriguing robot at SIBF is Echo, designed to assist with academic research. "Echo answers questions and helps researchers find information quickly, making the research process more enjoyable and efficient. Visitors can interact with Echo by asking it questions and experiencing its capabilities, adding a fun element to academia," Trends explained.

Young visitors also had the opportunity to try on a pair of 'Tara' glasses, advanced 3D VR glasses that allow users to explore the centre's innovative book collection. These interactive glasses offer a unique way to delve into literature, making reading an exciting and immersive experience. Trends noted that they house many publications in over 15 languages, offering original and translated books on diverse topics ranging from economics and politics to energy and natural resources.
