ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) is revolutionizing the dining industry, transforming customer experiences and operational efficiency. A report by MarketsandMarkets predicts that the AI in food and beverages market will expand from $3.07 billion in 2020 to $29.94 billion by 2025, with a CAGR of 45.77 per cent. This growth underscores AI's potential to redefine dining. AI technology is being incorporated into various aspects of dining, including customer service and kitchen operations. Chatbots and virtual assistants are increasingly utilized for reservations, order placements, and customer inquiries, offering 24/7 service and enhancing customer convenience and satisfaction. A survey by Oracle reveals that 43 per cent of consumers prefer chatbots for customer service interactions, highlighting their growing acceptance. In the kitchen, AI-driven robots and automation, such as Miso Robotics' Flippy, are enhancing food preparation and consistency, with kitchen AI integration expected to grow by 64 per cent by 2025, according to Research and Markets. The UAE is pioneering the integration of AI into its dining sector, as noted by Chef Vladimir Mukhin, head chef at Krasota Dubai. AI is used in Dubai to create personalized dining experiences, such as at the Burj Al Arab's Al Muntaha restaurant, which uses AI to analyze customer preferences and recommend dishes. AI is also improving operational efficiency in UAE restaurants, with robotics being used for food preparation and service, reducing wait times and improving consistency. The UAE's technology adoption is leading, with 62 per cent of restaurants expected to adopt AI technology by 2025, compared to the global average of 45 per cent. Looking ahead, AI in dining will standardize personalized experiences, streamline ordering with voice recognition technology, and play a crucial role in sustainability by optimizing inventory management and reducing food waste. AI will also enhance food safety through AI-powered sensors and monitoring systems. The future impact of AI on the dining industry will be profound, driving further innovation and efficiency, as emphasized by Andy Cuthbert, General Manager, Jumeirah Creekside. The UAE's innovative use of AI in dining sets a precedent for other countries, promising a future of more personalized, efficient, and sustainable dining experiences.
