This idea undergoes years of research, testing, and approvals, eventually materializing as a finished product, whether in a tube, a bottle, or another form of packaging. The most crucial phase then begins: the art of persuasion. Millions are invested, and people are approached in increasingly unique ways. Each ad, press piece, radio mention, expert recommendation, and personal referral is part of this effort to convince the most elusive target: the buyer. Now, add Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a powerful disruptor, driven by the goal to think and judge as well as, if not better than, humans.
Take 38-year-old Indian entrepreneur Sohini Datta, who resides in Dubai. She believes AI is doing an excellent job in maintaining her skin's health. "I've never had such an experience with skincare before. Before ChatGPT, I was a huge TikTok researcher, as it's great for recommending skincare products. But nothing has made as significant a difference as ChatGPT's recommendations," she says. As an avid ChatGPT user, Datta decided to incorporate it into her skincare routine a few months ago and hasn't looked back. "ChatGPT is part of my daily life. I use it for various things, from recipes to therapy to tarot. For skincare, it was during a time when I needed to rebuy products. Before rebuying, I asked ChatGPT about the products I used. I provided my routine and skin type, and we worked together to refine the selection."
Lina, a 41-year-old Canadian creative professional, had a different experience. "I started reading and watching YouTube tutorials. Once you hit your 40s, you want to know how to keep your skin looking young without resorting to extreme cosmetic surgery. You start learning about ingredients and their purposes. The more you learn, the more you realize there are things that shouldn't be mixed, things that should be alternated, and products that work better at different times. It became overwhelming. One day, I decided to input all my products into ChatGPT, along with my schedule and skin type, to see if it could create a routine for me. It did exactly that, simplifying the complex information into a manageable schedule."
The beauty of the process lies in the details, particularly the prompting. Datta focused on this when planning her routine. "Out of everything I was using, there were two or three products I wanted to keep. I prompted ChatGPT about this, asking for two routines: one for the days I work and one for days at home where I have more time for face masks." For Lina, AI has not only brought order to her routine but also saved her money. "Now, I run products through ChatGPT before buying to ensure they fit my routine and don't duplicate what I already have. It's financially beneficial, as I'm not wasting money on products that might damage my skin or be unusable."
