A charitable organization based in Ajman has initiated a Dh3-million project aimed at rectifying the residency status of violators and facilitating the issuance of their residency visas. The International Charity Organisation (ICO) has launched 'Correction of the Status of Violators,' a program that is part of a larger campaign spearheaded by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) to waive penalties for those who have violated entry and residency rules.
The two-month visa amnesty program, which commenced on September 1 and concludes on October 30, provides violators with the option to either legalize their status or depart the country without facing bans, fines, or exit charges. Dr. Khalid Al Khaja, the secretary-general of the ICO, emphasized that supporting national campaigns aligns with the ICO's approach, including this initiative that exempts individuals from residency fines and allows them to correct their status.
In the initial phase of the initiative, the ICO plans to process 600 applications from individuals who fulfill the necessary criteria, Dr. Al Khaja added.
