Police inspectors have initiated visits to cigarette shops in Ajman as part of a campaign aimed at curbing illegal activities. The primary violations targeted by the Ajman Police include: Unlicensed sales of tobacco products and e-cigarettes, and the distribution of these items to individuals under the age of 18. Authorities will also be ensuring compliance with various other regulations. Stores are required to display warning signs to deter minors from entering, and shopkeepers must request identification to verify the buyer's age. Residents are encouraged to report any violations, particularly those involving the sale of vapes, cigarettes, and other tobacco products without the necessary permits.
Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Naeemi, the director of the Department of Investigations and Criminal Investigations at Ajman Police, highlighted that the campaign is not only focused on apprehending illegal sellers but also on motivating smokers to quit and increasing awareness about the health hazards, especially those associated with e-cigarettes. The police will additionally be launching social media campaigns to extend their reach to a broader audience.
