Al Bandar Rotana and Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana hotels have been honored with a sustainability award from Johnson Controls at WETEX 2024 in Dubai. This prestigious award highlights the hotels’ remarkable achievements in environmental conservation, including a 30% reduction in water usage and a 40% decrease in electricity consumption through advanced systems and sustainability programs implemented across the properties.
Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart building technologies and services, has been a pioneer in sustainability innovations. Their comprehensive solutions in cooling and energy efficiency technologies assist clients in the UAE and worldwide to optimize resources and minimize their carbon footprint. The collaboration between Al Bandar Rotana and Johnson Controls exemplifies the power of partnership in advancing sustainable solutions for the hospitality sector.
The sustainability initiative was spearheaded by Ayman Ashor, General Manager of Al Bandar Rotana and Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana, who has been a steadfast advocate for sustainability under Rotana Earth initiatives. His dedication to innovation and environmental stewardship was instrumental in forming the partnership with Johnson Controls for the implementation of the Cooling as a Service (CaaS) project. Together, the teams successfully deployed advanced energy management and water conservation technologies, significantly enhancing the hotels’ resource efficiency.
“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from Johnson Controls, whose innovative solutions have enabled us to substantially reduce our environmental footprint. This award underscores our unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainable practices across all our operations,” stated Ayman Ashor. “Our team is fully dedicated to constructing a more sustainable future, and this achievement sets a new standard for what we can achieve collectively.”
Devrim Tekeli, Vice President & General Manager, Middle East & Africa, added, “At Johnson Controls, we are proud to support forward-thinking partners like Al Bandar Rotana in creating sustainable, smart environments. In addition to this accomplishment, Al Bandar Rotana is also aiming for the “Gold” category in the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Stamp, a highly regarded recognition from Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The hotel was awarded the Silver category last year and seeks to reach new heights through active participation in sustainability programs that meet Dubai’s 19 rigorous sustainability criteria, launched as part of the UAE Year of Sustainability.
