Damian McHugh, the General Manager of Al Dhannah Golf Club in Abu Dhabi, has expressed his enthusiasm for improving the experiences of members and guests at the club, situated 240 km west of the city. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, McHugh's expertise spans golf development, sales, marketing strategies, and operations at elite private clubs and resorts worldwide, including China, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Al Dhannah Golf Club commenced operations in November 2021, with McHugh joining the project in its pre-opening phase in September of the same year.

The golf course, designed by the esteemed UK golf course architect John Hunt of the International Design Group, is part of the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) and features a 9-hole layout measuring 3,454 yards with a Par 36, complemented by a floodlit driving range, short game area, and putting green. Beyond golf, the club boasts the award-winning Ola Brazil Restaurant, which provides a comprehensive churrasco experience with 15 types of meat prepared by Brazilian-trained chefs.

Currently, the club employs around 100 staff for the golf course and clubhouse operations, with additional part-time staff and contractors engaged for event days. McHugh highlighted the club's plans for the 2024-25 season, aiming to enhance member and guest experiences and attract more visitors from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and beyond. Notably, Al Dhannah Golf Club has been nominated for the 'Middle East Best 9-Hole Golf Course' at the 2024 World Golf Awards, with the ceremony and winners to be announced in Madeira in November. McHugh expressed hope that the club will be recognized at this prestigious event.
