The forthcoming second expansion for Alan Wake 2, titled The Lake House, is set to unveil fresh monsters, a new playable character, and additional weapons, as revealed in the trailer released today from the Xbox Partner Preview. However, it also seems to be drawing from the past while simultaneously setting the stage for future Remedy projects. The Lake House will closely connect with Control, Remedy's 2019 release, as well as its upcoming sequel.
In the latest trailer, players will assume the role of Agent Estevez, a Federal Bureau of Control agent who was prominently featured in the Alan Wake 2 narrative but is now playable for the first time. Her storyline revolves around the enigmatic and secluded Lake House from the base game, a place shrouded in turmoil due to events that were previously unseen in the Alan Wake 2 story... until now.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect is the hint at Dylan Faden, the brother of Control's protagonist Jesse Faden. Is Dylan present in the Lake House? Is he projecting himself into it—or perhaps into Estevez's mind? It's evident that Remedy is not shying away from delving into the bizarre with its expansions.
Fans of the Remedy Connected Universe (affectionately known as 'nerds') can dive into The Lake House when it launches on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC next week on October 22. The expansion is included in the game's Deluxe Edition, or can be purchased as an upgrade for those who already own the base game but wish to experience the expansions.
