After her breakout screen debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘70s hangout movie Licorice Pizza in 2021, singer-songwriter Alana Haim—one-third of the rock band HAIM—is set to enhance her acting portfolio with two new projects. According to THR, Haim has secured roles in both Kelly Reichardt’s art heist drama The Mastermind, where she will star alongside Josh O’Connor, and in Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, featuring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.
Production for The Mastermind, Reichardt’s latest self-written and directed film, has already begun. The movie revolves around a daring art heist and is set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and the rise of the women’s liberation movement in the U.S. Meanwhile, details about The Drama, Borgli’s follow-up to last year’s surreal Nic Cage film Dream Scenario, are scarce. The film will see Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a couple whose wedding plans are disrupted by unexpected revelations about one of the soon-to-be newlyweds. It remains unclear if Haim’s character will be involved in these revelations.
Before The Mastermind and The Drama, fans can look forward to seeing Haim again next year in an untitled Warner Bros. feature directed by her Licorice Pizza director, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. More details on Haim’s upcoming projects will be shared as they become available. With her stellar performance as Alana Kane in Licorice Pizza, the anticipation for Alana Haim’s future screen appearances is high.
