Top seed Alexi Luca Rafael Aldemita advanced to the semifinals of the boy's under-12 category with a commanding 6-0, 6-4 victory over Thomas Toussaint at the 9th Al Habtoor Tennis Cup on Wednesday evening. The match took place at the HUBB Tennis Club in Silicon Oasis, where Aldemita made necessary adjustments to his game to secure his place in the final four of the competition.
Wednesday's schedule featured only the boy's under-12 category for juniors, but other matches were held in the men's open and men's over-35 Masters Open. In the men's open, Satveer Sendilkumar easily defeated Mohammad Amine Bourdih 6-2, 6-2. Meanwhile, in the men's over-35 Masters competition, Nicholas Albe cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win against Shirad Salaheddine, and Julien Mizzon continued his strong performance with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Andrea Romeo. Mohammed Al Maflahi also secured a smooth 6-0, 6-4 victory over Karim Chtourou.
This annual tennis event, held for junior boys and girls in four age categories (under-12, 14, 16, and 18) and three senior contests (Men's Open, Women's Open, and Masters 35+), will culminate with finals in all eleven categories on December 8, alongside the 27th Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge. The event is part of the 'Road to Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open,' a community initiative by Mubadala in collaboration with the UAE Tennis Federation, aimed at providing a pathway for aspiring UAE players to enhance their skills and compete on the global stage. The series, fully sanctioned by the UAE Tennis Federation, will be held at various venues across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. Points earned through these tournaments will contribute to both official UAE rankings and a distinct Road to Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open ranking.
