It's an exciting time for Alien fans. Alien: Romulus has just hit theaters, Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth TV series is making progress (with a teaser already out!), and the iconic Alien: Isolation, one of the best movie tie-in video games ever, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week. But the excitement doesn't stop there! Not only is Alien: Isolation turning ten today, but after years of anticipation, the game's creative director, Al Hope, has officially announced that Alien: Isolation 2 is in the works.
Taking to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Hope expressed his gratitude to the first game's loyal players and shared the following statement: "On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear. Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready."
While details about the sequel are scarce—including its release date, platforms, and what the team at Creative Assembly and SEGA have planned—we do know that the original game, where players control Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen, and navigate the spaceship Sevastopol while evading the deadly xenomorph, is a survival horror masterpiece. Even Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez is a fan, hinting at this admiration through the save-point-like phones in his movie.
Until more information is revealed, fans might want to replay the first game and tackle it on nightmare mode. After all, in space, no one can hear you scream. But in the office? It might be time to test out those noise-cancelling earphones.
