Al Hope, the creative director of Alien: Isolation, has revealed plans for a sequel to the acclaimed horror game. Hope made the announcement on Twitter to mark the game's 10-year anniversary. "Today, I am thrilled to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in the early stages of development," Hope stated. "We eagerly anticipate sharing more information with you when the time is right." Although no additional details were provided, the logos accompanying the announcement indicate that the game will be developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, mirroring the original title.
Alien: Isolation was initially released in October 2014 and has since been made available on various platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and mobile. The game also inspired a web series in 2019 and a companion book in 2022. In GameSpot's review of Alien: Isolation, it was noted, "Alien: Isolation offers a glimpse into a future that holds the Alien game you've always desired. Yet, it is not the vehicle that transports you there." GameSpot also commemorated the game's anniversary by reflecting on why it was so polarizing among fans and critics.
While the release date for the sequel remains uncertain, fans can look forward to a new movie from the franchise, Alien Romulus, in the interim. Additionally, a new TV series titled Alien: Earth is scheduled to premiere in 2025.
