It seems that new vehicle prices have spiraled out of control, as evidenced by this four-cylinder model that demands supercar money. Alpine has released numerous special-edition A110 models over the years, but this one truly stands out. The mid-engine coupe's final chapter is here, and it comes with a staggering price tag of €330,000, which translates to approximately $360,000 at current exchange rates. Yes, for a four-cylinder engine.

The already formidable A110 R has been given the Ultime treatment, similar to the final Renault Megane RS Ultime, sharing the turbocharged 1.8-liter gasoline engine. While the hot hatch delivered 300 horsepower, the four-cylinder engine in this model has been tuned to produce 345 hp. However, torque remains unchanged at 309 lb-ft (420 Nm). The French sports car benefits from a launch control system that enables a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 3.8 seconds, utilizing a modified dual-clutch automatic transmission to handle the increased power.

The high-priced coupe attempts to justify its exorbitant cost with adjustable Öhlins dampers at all four corners and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust. Additionally, the A110 R Ultime features upgraded brakes with 330-mm AP racing discs, different brake pads, and cooling ducts. The final iteration of this agile sports car rides on forged 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. A more aggressive body kit enhances downforce by 353 pounds (160 kilograms) at top speed compared to the A110 R Turini.

The eye-popping price mentioned earlier is for the A110 R Ultime La Bleue, of which only 15 units will be produced. This special edition within a special edition features two shades of blue: Alpine Vision Blue and Abysse Blue. Inside, the car boasts Poltrona Frau and Sabelt blue leather. The standard model costs €265,000 ($290,000) in France, where the base A110 is approximately four times cheaper, at €65,000 ($71,000). Total production is limited to 110 units. At the 2024 Paris Motor Show, Alpine is showcasing the La Bleue version alongside the R290 electric hot hatchback, the A390 crossover, and the Alpenglow Hy6 concept with a hydrogen-fueled, six-cylinder combustion engine.
