The Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding has garnered international attention, sparking widespread curiosity about the attendees. Among those expected to grace the occasion are notable figures from the UAE. We spoke with Dr. Sana Sajan, a prominent entrepreneur married to Adel Sajan, heir to the Sajan family, founders of the Danube Group, who is present at the event held at the Bandra Kurla Complex today.
"This celebration brings back memories of my own wedding and the frenzy and exhilaration we experienced," Dr. Sajan reminisces. "The wedding invitation was exquisite, embodying regality and cultural spirituality." She notes that the wedding comprises four main events, each with distinct attire planned. "The themes revolve around traditional Indian wear, ranging from traditional regal to Indian chic. All outfits are designed by Indian designers, maintaining a balance between elegance and style, reflecting our youthful spirit," she explains. Despite the wedding being held at the Bandra Kurla Complex, nearby hotels are fully booked for guests. "Adel and I initially booked at Taj Lands End, but we discovered that most friends were closer to the venue and had arranged for us at Sofitel, just two minutes away, so we relocated," Dr. Sajan shares.
Can the global hype surrounding a wedding diminish the personal essence of the ceremonies? Dr. Sajan offers her perspective, "Our wedding spanned over a year and a half, with 44 events from proposal to the final cruise reception. With so many friends and family involved, it never felt lengthy. Weddings are such joyous occasions that leave you with only positive feelings," she states, adding that she will join her family and friends for the 'baaraat' ceremony today.
