Singer and songwriter Andra Day is poised to join season two of Disney's Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Athena, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
"I'm excited to embody her and collaborate with such a skilled cast," Day expressed in a video message following Disney's announcement. "Get ready for this thrilling adventure, everyone."
Leah Sava Jeffries will reprise her role as Annabeth, alongside Walker Scobell (Percy), Aryan Simhadri (Grover), Charlie Bushnell (Luke), and Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse). Additionally, Daniel Diemer will portray Tyson the Cyclops in season two, and Tamara Smart will take on the role of Thalia Grace, Zeus's daughter. Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho will make guest appearances as the Gray Sisters, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood a year after season one's events, discovering his world has drastically changed. His bond with Annabeth is evolving, he learns he has a Cyclops sibling, Grover is missing, and the camp is under attack by Kronos's forces. Percy's quest to restore order will lead him beyond familiar territories and into the perilous Sea of Monsters, where an unknown destiny awaits," as detailed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a fantasy TV series crafted by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg for Disney+, inspired by Riordan's eponymous book series. The show premiered on December 19, 2023, on Disney+, with the first season comprising eight episodes. Season 2, set to debut in 2025, is adapted from Riordan's second book, The Sea of Monsters.
