Following the resounding success of 'Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend' in 2022 and 'Ferrari' in 2023, Italian film producer Andrea Iervolino is already gearing up for his next automotive biopic. His forthcoming project will revolve around the life of Ettore Bugatti, the founder and first CEO of the legendary Bugatti brand. The yet-to-be-named film will chronicle Ettore Bugatti's journey from his early years to the establishment of his eponymous company in 1909. The movie will delve into the meteoric rise of the supercar manufacturer in the early 1900s and the challenges faced by the company after the tragic death of his son in 1939.
Production is slated to commence in France and Italy in 2025, featuring an ensemble cast of international actors. Similar to the Ferrari and Lamborghini films, this biopic will also be filmed in English. "After the triumphs of our films on Lamborghini and Ferrari, I am exhilarated to bring another global automotive legend to the big screen," Iervolino stated. "Bugatti will be a film that pays homage to the passion and innovation that have epitomized one of the most iconic car manufacturers in history."
While Iervolino has not yet revealed the director or cast for the film, it is anticipated that the project will attract high-profile talent. Adam Driver starred in Iervolino's 'Ferrari,' directed by Michael Mann, while Frank Grillo led the 'Lamborghini' biopic. Iervolino's third film in his expanding automotive series, 'Maserati: The Brothers,' is scheduled to start production in 2025. Directed by Oscar winner Bobby Moresco, it will star Anthony Hopkins and Michele Marrone.
The announcement of the Bugatti film is part of a growing trend in car-centric media. John Cena is set to star in the upcoming 'Matchbox' film, based on the iconic die-cast toy, and Netflix is preparing a new series about the life of F1 legend Ayrton Senna. With more projects on the horizon, the fascination with automotive history shows no signs of slowing down.
