After making brief appearances in various films, Andrew Garfield achieved global fame by stepping into Tobey Maguire's shoes for Sony's reboot of their Spider-Man series. Yet, similar to Maguire, Garfield's run was cut short as both Spider-Man 4 and Amazing Spider-Man 3 were canceled, paving the way for the character to join Marvel Studios. While Maguire has seemingly retired his suit, Garfield remains open to reprising his role if the circumstances are right.

Speaking to Esquire during the promotion of his upcoming A24 film We Live in Time, the Oscar-nominated actor shared that returning for Spider-Man: No Way Home was a therapeutic experience and made him feel ready to don the web-shooters once more. "I would absolutely come back if it felt right, if it contributes positively to the culture, if there's a fresh concept or something unique and exciting that I could really engage with," he explained. "I adore that character, and it brings me joy. If my portrayal brings joy to others, then I'm happy to continue."

Although fans are still some time away from the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film, Garfield maintains that his team-up in No Way Home was a one-off and he has no current plans to return to the Spider-Man universe. "The internet is vast," Garfield noted in September. "Many people will say anything to gain attention. So, you might have been misled, I'm afraid."

We Live in Time hits theaters on October 11 and has already gained attention as a meme sensation due to a carousel horse featured in its movie poster.
