Andy Murray has revealed that he will kick off the 2025 season as the new coach of his long-time rival Novak Djokovic, marking his first coaching position since retiring from professional tennis. The 37-year-olds, born just a week apart, have been fierce competitors since their youth, facing off 36 times on the ATP Tour. After 19 years as a professional, Murray hung up his racket at this year's Olympic Games. Meanwhile, Djokovic secured his first Olympic gold, completing his set of major trophies. Murray will guide Djokovic at least through the Australian Open. The Serb leads their head-to-head 25-11, including victories in four Australian Open finals and one semi, while Murray clinched his first two Grand Slam titles at the 2012 US Open and Wimbledon in 2013.

Novak Djokovic expressed his enthusiasm, saying: "I am thrilled to have one of my greatest rivals on my side as my coach. I look forward to the start of the season and competing in Australia alongside Andy, with whom I have shared many memorable moments on Australian soil."

Andy Murray also commented: "I'm joining Novak's team during the off-season to help him prepare for the Australian Open. I'm genuinely excited about this opportunity and looking forward to being on the same side of the net as Novak for a change, assisting him in achieving his objectives."
