Benfica forward Angel Di Maria, who recently helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup, has revealed his plans to transition into coaching after his illustrious playing career. The 36-year-old, who retired from international soccer following his second Copa America triumph in July, is currently enrolled in a coaching course.

Di Maria, a former player for Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Paris St Germain, has been in fine form for Benfica this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 14 appearances. Notably, he contributed to Benfica's 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last month.

In an interview with Clank Media, Di Maria expressed his evolving perspective on football, stating, "I am taking the course to be a coach. I am doing it just in case." He added, "From the age of 30, I started to see football differently and analyse it. I started to see it not only from the player’s side, but also how a coach can see it."

Di Maria, who joined Benfica from Juventus last year, has a contract with the Portuguese club until June 2025. While he plans to spend time with his family after retiring, he remains open to the possibility of coaching in the future.
