A 6km public access road is set to connect the Sheikh Zayed Road directly to the highly anticipated Palm Jebel Ali. On Sunday, May 26, Nakheel announced the contract for the commencement of the road. Additionally, the company has awarded a contract for roadway and lighting enhancements to Al Hesah Street (formerly the old Abu Dhabi Road) at Dubai Waterfront, the mainland which connects to Palm Jebel Ali.
According to Khalid Al Malik, chief executive officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate, the palm-shaped artificial archipelago, twice the size of Palm Jumeirah, will accommodate approximately 35,000 families in the future. DBB Contracting and Khansaheb Civil Engineering have been appointed as partners for the next phase of development on the island.
Spanning 13.4km of land, with 10.5 million square metres of development, Palm Jebel Ali features 16 fronds, 110km of coastline, and 91km of beachfront. The island is expected to host over 80 hotels and resorts, along with entertainment and leisure facilities.
Nakheel’s first set of villas for sale in September last year were sold out within hours, witnessing long queues of property brokers and investors. In terms of 2023’s fourth-quarter sales, the island was the top-performing area in Dubai, generating Dh14.2 billion.
