On October 29, Apple introduced a major update to its compact desktop series with the all-new Mac mini. Equipped with the innovative M4 and M4 Pro chips, this redesigned Mac mini not only delivers impressive performance but also marks a significant environmental achievement as Apple’s first carbon-neutral Mac. The Mac mini’s compact design, measuring just 5 by 5 inches, is made possible by the power efficiency of Apple silicon and a new thermal architecture. This small yet powerful device offers up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and a 2.2x faster GPU compared to its M1 predecessor, with the M4 Pro variant specifically designed for professional tasks with enhanced efficiency.

The new Mac mini is a technological marvel, powered by the M4 silicon chip and the M4 Pro variant. With the M4 chip, the desktop features a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and starts with 16GB of unified memory, significantly boosting performance for various creative and productivity tasks. The M4 Pro variant, with its 14-core configuration and up to 20 GPU cores, offers the world’s fastest CPU core and exceptional multithreaded performance, making it perfect for complex projects like 3D rendering, advanced audio production, and AI tasks. Compared to its Intel Core i7 predecessor, the M4 Pro Mac mini shows remarkable improvements in tasks such as DNA sequencing, AI speech-to-text, and audio effect processing in Logic Pro projects.

Apple has enhanced the new Mac mini’s connectivity with a versatile range of ports, including USB-C and high-impedance headphone support. The back panel features Thunderbolt 4 on the M4 and Thunderbolt 5 on the M4 Pro, along with HDMI, Ethernet, and three Thunderbolt ports, allowing for multiple high-resolution displays. The M4 Pro model can support up to three 6K displays at 60Hz, delivering over 60 million pixels for an immersive experience. The Mac mini also introduces Apple Intelligence, a powerful AI system that leverages Apple silicon’s processing capabilities to enhance user experience while maintaining privacy through on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute.

The new Mac mini comes with macOS Sequoia, offering enhanced productivity features like iPhone Mirroring, new Safari improvements, and a redesigned Reader mode. Gaming features are upgraded with Personalized Spatial Audio, Game Mode improvements, and support for upcoming titles. Users can enjoy new tiling options and the convenience of the built-in Passwords app. Pricing for the Mac mini with M4 starts at Dh2,499, with the M4 Pro version priced at Dh5,859. Pre-orders are available now through Apple’s online store, with deliveries and in-store availability starting on November 8. Education discounts are offered, with the M4 starting at Dh2,079 and the M4 Pro at Dh5,439. New USB-C accessories, including keyboards, trackpads, and a Thunderbolt 5 Pro Cable, are also available.
