Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni expressed continuous astonishment at his team's knack for securing victories, following their 1-0 win over Colombia in the Copa America final through extra time on Sunday. Argentina's victory at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida marked their third major trophy in a row, having previously won the 2022 World Cup and the 2021 Copa America. This feat makes Argentina the first South American team to win three consecutive major tournaments. After their 2021 Copa America victory, the team went on to win the World Cup the following year and successfully defended their Copa title in the USA. Only Spain has achieved a similar international record, winning the World Cup in 2010 between two European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

Scaloni noted, "I'm not sure if this defines an era, but it's undeniable that this team consistently surprises us. They managed to overcome a tough match against a formidable opponent, despite a poor first half." He added, "In the second half, we showed improvement and deserved the win. The team always finds an extra gear in extra time, which is incredibly gratifying to witness. I am eternally thankful for their relentless effort." Scaloni also expressed joy in seeing the nation's fans celebrate once more, stating, "I'm thrilled because the people are happy. That's what the players play for, and that's why we manage the national team—for the people to connect with the team."

Colombia's defeat marked their first since losing to Argentina in February 2022. Colombia coach Nestor Lorenzo commented, "Scaloni has been with his team for seven years. I congratulate him. It's a remarkable achievement, and now it's not just a streak, it's an era." The match also signified the end of an era for winger Angel Di Maria, who announced his retirement after the tournament. Scaloni, however, hinted at a possible final appearance for Di Maria on home soil, calling him a legend and suggesting he deserves a proper farewell.

Scaloni, whose wife is Spanish, also celebrated Spain's victory over England in the Euro final in Berlin, making it a doubly joyous day for his family. "Having my family here is the best. They're twice as happy because Spain is also champions, making this a special Sunday," he concluded.
