Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by securing Pakistan's first-ever Olympic gold, a feat that has not only elevated sports in the South-Asian nation but also bolstered national pride among Pakistanis in the UAE. The 27-year-old's victory deeply resonated with the spirit of Pakistan Independence Day celebrations in the UAE, highlighting the nation's potential on the global stage. This symbolic victory coincided with Independence Day celebrations ahead of August 14, held at the World Trade Centre in Dubai on Sunday, where around 10,000 people enjoyed a 12-hour cultural and musical extravaganza.

Different groups, including the Pakistani Riders Group (PRG) led by Mirza Khud, extended heartfelt congratulations to Nadeem. Khud, who attended the event with 52 bikers, expressed, "The 27-year-old has brought immense pride to our country. This achievement is being celebrated worldwide. Winning a gold medal at the Olympics is a historic accomplishment that enhances our nation's standing. It feels like a breath of fresh air for every Pakistani." Khud also highlighted the unifying effect of Nadeem's victory, which occurred just before the Independence Day celebrations.

The Bikers group, known for their weekend rides within the UAE and beyond to countries like Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar, participated in the parade showcasing unity and strength. The vibrant event, organized by the "Emirates Loves Pakistan" page in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai, Dubai Police, and Dubai World Trade Centre, featured cultural performances, musical shows, and traditional activities that highlighted the rich heritage and contributions of the Pakistani community to the UAE’s development.

Several expats from Sharjah attended the event, marking the largest Pakistani Independence celebrations in Dubai. Mudassar Nasir Abbassi, a UAE expat for ten years, brought a group of 12, including his family and friends, to the event. He emphasized the strong connections between the UAE and Pakistan, stating, "This highlights the strong and long-standing connections between the UAE and Pakistan."

The event was also attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, along with diplomats and prominent figures from the Pakistani community. Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to UAE, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the resilience and determination of the Pakistani people and highlighting Nadeem’s achievements. He also spoke about the enduring friendship and deep-rooted ties between the UAE and Pakistan, noting the special affection of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for Pakistan's leadership and people.

Muhammad stressed that the tradition of friendship has been strengthened by successors on both sides, with a strong desire to further expand political, trade, and economic relations. He urged the Pakistani community to work wholeheartedly for building a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan and to contribute positively to the vibrant and diverse society of the UAE.
