Earlier this week, Ubisoft canceled a press event for Assassin's Creed Shadows with little explanation. Now, the company has announced that the latest installment in the Assassin's Creed series has been delayed from its November release. Assassin's Creed Shadows will now launch on February 14, 2025.

Marc-Alexis Côté, Ubisoft's Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, shared the news on social media, stating that the delay was necessary to give the development team more time to refine the game. Existing preorders will be refunded.

Following the announcement, Ubisoft informed its investors that Assassin's Creed Shadows is "feature complete," but the recent reception of Star Wars Outlaws prompted the developer to use the extra time to ensure the game meets its full potential. Star Wars Outlaws experienced softer-than-expected sales, and Ubisoft is keen to avoid a similar outcome with Shadows.

In addition to the delay, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed Shadows will not follow the traditional season pass model. Instead, preorder customers will receive the first expansion for free, and all players will be able to explore the game's rendition of feudal Japan on February 14. The game will also be available on Steam at launch, marking a change in Ubisoft's recent business strategy.
