If Assassin's Creed Shadows had adhered to its original timeline, it would have launched in just under a month. However, Shadows has been postponed to an early 2025 release. Consequently, players who opt for the Assassin’s Creed Shadows collector’s edition will no longer receive early access to the game.

As reported by Insider Gaming, Ubisoft confirmed the cancellation of Assassin's Creed Shadows' early access during a Discord Q&A session. The company also reaffirmed that it will not proceed with its plans for season passes. As a result, the price of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows collector’s edition will be reduced from $280 to $230. The collector's edition will still include a steelbook, an artbook, a statue, and more. However, there might be further adjustments to these items before the final release.

The report suggests that these late changes could be influenced by the challenges Ubisoft has faced in maintaining historical accuracy and cultural representation. This was cited as one of the reasons for the game's delay in a previous report, along with a request from Shadows' developer, Ubisoft Quebec, for additional time to refine the game before its launch.

Additionally, there are rumors that Ubisoft Quebec might be incorporating a co-op mode into Assassin's Creed Shadows. This mode would presumably allow two players to team up as the game's dual protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. However, given the game's delay, this feature may not be ready by the launch date.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 14, 2025.
