Sony's highly acclaimed 3D platformer, Astro Bot, is set to receive some exciting DLC, and Sony has recently provided players with a detailed glimpse of what's to come through a new trailer showcased during September's State Of Play event. Even more enticing, the upcoming DLC for the game is entirely free and is just around the corner, although curiously, the trailer did not specify an exact release date. The trailer merely confirmed that the free expansion will be available sometime during Fall 2024. Considering that we are nearing the fall season, it seems likely that the launch date could be quite soon.
The DLC introduces a variety of new features, including five fresh online speedrun levels for players to compete in, as well as 10 new bots for players to rescue. Two of the bots featured in the trailer appear to be particularly unique, with one referencing Helldivers 2, and the other dressed as Eve from Stellar Blade. However, it seems there are more than just these two unique bots in the DLC, as PlayStation hints in a recent blog post that players will "have to find out who the other [bots] are!"
"We couldn't be more thrilled with the reception Astro Bot has received, and to witness the joy Astro is bringing to homes worldwide," said Team Asobi studio head Nicolas Doucet following the trailer's premiere. "On behalf of Team Asobi, thank you so much." Doucet also mentioned that the trailer was merely a "sneak peek" of the DLC, assuring fans that the game's developers still have a few surprises in store.
