Australia's wicketkeeper Alex Carey believes the team will draw strength from their impressive record in day-night Tests and aim to bounce back from their recent setback in Perth when they face India in the second Test in Adelaide.
Australia boasts an outstanding record in pink ball Tests, having won 11 out of 12 matches, including all seven played at Adelaide Oval. This includes a victory against India in their last home series, where they dismissed Virat Kohli's team for just 36.
Carey expressed confidence in the team's approach and experience with the pink ball, stating, "We're excited. We should take a lot - and we do take a lot - of confidence out of our record from pink ball cricket." He added, "It doesn't mean we'll have the success but I think our methods, our style of play and the experience we have with this group, we'll bounce back from Perth."
India secured a commanding 295-run victory in the first Test at Perth Stadium, setting the stage for a thrilling contest in Adelaide. Carey acknowledged India's confidence from their recent win, saying, "I'm sure India will be confident from the last game as well, so it will be a great contest."
Australia's winning streak in day-night Tests was halted in January by the West Indies, who won by a narrow margin of eight runs at the Gabba. As they prepare for the second Test, there are concerns over the fitness of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who experienced discomfort after bowling 17 overs in Perth.
Media speculation suggests Marsh might be retained as a specialist batsman, although selectors have included uncapped all-rounder Beau Webster in the squad. Carey remains optimistic about Marsh's availability, stating, "His batting has been fantastic since he's come back into this team and his bowling again -- he took some handy wickets. Hopefully he is right and ready to go."
