Mega Cat Studios, Crowd Control, and BackyardSports.Online have joined forces for the BackyardSports.Online Charity Stream, a fundraising event dedicated to supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The livestream will host a variety of guests, including game developers, content creators, and professional athletes. Participants will have the opportunity to play classic Backyard Sports games online, engage with the featured personalities, and enter giveaways. The event is scheduled for this Sunday, October 13, at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET, exclusively on the BackyardSportsCenter Twitch channel.

The charity stream coincides with the release of Backyard Baseball '97 on Steam on October 10. Developed by Mega Cat Studios, this re-launch introduces Steam Leaderboards, allowing players to track and compare their home runs, season wins, and more in real-time. The game offers three modes: Random Pick-up, where the computer selects a random team; Single Game, which involves taking turns with the computer and picking players from a random pool; and Season, where you can create and manage a team through a 14-game series. In GameSpot's review of Backyard Baseball '97, Mark Delaney described it as a 'fantastic experience for young players,' praising the roster of kid athletes and the potential for family play. Delaney, who once enjoyed the game as a child, noted its enduring appeal and the joy of sharing it with his own kids.
