Baldur's Gate 3 players have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming Patch 8, which introduces cross-play functionality. This eagerly anticipated feature will allow PC players to team up with their console-playing friends, enhancing the multiplayer experience. In addition to cross-play, the patch brings a brand-new photo mode and 12 fresh subclasses to aid in the battle against the Absolute.
Stress testing for this update is scheduled to begin in early January, with sign-ups available beforehand. Details on how to participate will be shared in the next Community Update from the developers. While the exact release date for Patch 8 remains undisclosed, the inclusion of cross-play, new subclasses, and an improved photo mode is sure to excite the player base.
With cross-play, players can seamlessly invite friends to join cross-platform lobbies or discover multiplayer sessions with others via the Larian Network. The new subclasses include some beloved options from the tabletop Dungeons and Dragons, as well as unique creations like the Drunken Master. For more detailed information on each subclass, visit the game's Steam page.
The enhanced Photo Mode offers a plethora of customization options, allowing players to capture and edit in-game moments with ease. Whether during combat, dialogue, or cinematic scenes, players can snap and decorate their photos with over 300 stickers, including emojis, blood splatters, and various textures.
Larian Studios has confirmed that while major updates for Baldur's Gate 3 are winding down, the game's modding tools will continue to receive support. The studio emphasized its commitment to expanding these tools, enabling the community to create and share their own stories.
Baldur's Gate 3 is currently available at a discounted price of $48, with the Digital Deluxe Edition DLC also on sale for $8 on Steam.
