The fourth and final unit of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant has become operational, as announced by the President on September 5.

In a tweet, the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stated, "With the commencement of operations at Unit 4 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, the UAE has made another substantial advancement towards achieving net zero." This unit will contribute an additional 1,400 megawatts of clean electricity to the national grid, furthering the progress towards full operational capacity and supporting the UAE’s initiatives to improve grid stability and energy security through abundant, zero-emission electricity around the clock.

"We will continue to emphasize energy security and sustainability for the welfare of our country and its people, both now and in the future," he further noted. Each unit has been integrated into the grid more efficiently than its predecessor, leveraging accumulated knowledge and experience. Unit 3 was completed four months ahead of the Unit 2 timeline, and five months ahead of Unit 1, highlighting the significant advantages of constructing multiple units in a phased approach.
